New DOC Commissioner Announced
Today, Governor Dunleavy announced the new Commissioner for the Department of Corrections, Nancy Dahlstrom. We worked with Nancy when she was an Alaska State Representative between 2003 to 2010 where she served as Co-Chair of the Armed Services Committee, Vice-Chair of the Judiciary Committee, Legislative Budget & Audit Committee, and the Public Safety Finance Subcommittee. Lawsuit Filed Against DOC for Knowingly Allowing Officer to be Assaulted
On Friday, October 26, Officer James Harvey filed a lawsuit against the Department of Corrections, Commissioner Dean Williams, and PCU Supervisor Sherrie Daigle. Although it is filed in Officer Harvey’s name, as was necessary due to the nature of the complaint, this lawsuit affects all Correctional Officers. The complaint seeks an injunction to force the State/DOC to tell Officers when Management becomes aware of any threat made against the Officers. [...]
2018 ACOA Scholarship Winner Announcement
The Alaska Correctional Officers Association (ACOA) Scholarship program is intended to help ACOA Members with the cost of their dependent children’s education. In 2018 ACOA awarded three $500 scholarships to dependent children of ACOA Members who are attending Institutions of Higher Education.
