Correctional Officers,
To both the Troopers and DOC, ACOA has offered to do whatever is needed to assist in anyway with honoring the two Troopers who gave their lives protecting Alaskans, up to and including an offer to pay for the Correctional Officer Honor Guard to attend the funeral.
Correctional Officers recently called the office asking if we could support Officers traveling to Fairbanks for the funeral. We contacted a company that has large vans and ACOA will pay for the vans to take Correctional Officers to Fairbanks … and if necessary pay for a hotel stay. The van/vans would have to leave early Saturday. If you would like to go to the funeral, please contact the office immediately at 646-2262. ACOA would also pay gas money for Officers driving their own vehicles.
In addition, the DOC has told us that all Correctional Officers attending the funeral are authorized to wear their Correctional Officer uniforms.
